The latest animated film in the works that's based on a children's book series is "Flanimals." The movie will star Ricky Gervias, who's one of my favorite comedians. He also wrote the books.

The story of "Fanimals" takes place on a planet populated by very strange creatures. Gervias will voice the lead character. Illumination Entertainment (Universal) is producing and the movie will be in 3-D. Prediction: With the right script this will be a HUGE hit.

In other animation news: "Up" is getting rave reviews following it's debut this week kicking-off the Cannes Film Festival. I'm going to try my hardest not to read anything about the film (the previews show too much already) until I see it at the end of the month. I encourage you to do the same.
